Overview

Ellen Jewell Flower, founder of the Myola Club Inc, (1921) at 6 Stirling Road, Claremont. Silver haired Mrs Flower is wearing glasses, a dark coloured dress, a long string of beads and a flower at her left hip.

Historical information

The Myola Club began as Mrs Ellen Jewell (also known as Nellie) Flower's Literary Circle through an arrangement she made with Lionel Logue to coach a group of women in the art of speech making and chairing a meeting. She officially opened the new Myola Club building at 6 Stirling Road, Claremont, on April 30th, 1935. She died in 1942.
