1910 - 1933
Subcollections
Overview

A slightly faded black and white photo of the Toodyay Showgrounds.
The grandstand and a large building (exhibition hall) are in the distance and a tall paling fence surrounds the grounds.
A low picket fence surrounds the grassed ring.
A few large trees are in the foreground and wooden rail fences to the right and left of photo.

Historical information

The grandstand, exhibition hall and low picket fence were built by Oct. 1910.
On 12 December, 1933 the grandstand, fencing and small outhouses at the Toodyay Showgrounds were destroyed by fire. The prompt arrival of the fire brigade saved the exhibition hall, the refreshment rooms and dressing sheds from a similar fate.
Tenders to build a replacement grandstand were advertised in July 1934.
