George Dickinson's 1952 Australian Baseball Team cap is made of dark green woollen material and has the Australian coat of arms embroidered on the crown.

Historical information

The 1952 Claxton Shield baseball tournament was held in Perth, Western Australia from 2-10 August. Four Australian State teams competed - South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. Following the conclusion of the championships an all Australian team was chosen. Five of the victorious Western Australian team were selected - D. Callanan, J. Dore, G. Dickinson, C. Puckett and G. Shom.

Contextual Information

This 1952 all Australian Baseball Team cap belonged to George Dickinson, an outstanding Western Australian team and Australian team member over many years throughout the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. This was his 4th all-Australian cap and was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by the Dickinson Family.

George's achievements include Claxton Shield Team Member 1936-1939, 1946-1952; Claxton Shield Outstanding Player 1950; Team Australia Member 1947,1948, 1950, 1952; Team Australia Captain 1947. He is an inductee in both the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame and the Baseball WA Hall of Fame.
