GIRL GUIDE PLATE
c. 1980A circular plate with a raised edge. The face is painted in a faded yellow colour. The central motif is a hand painted black and green male balga plant with two branches on a brown mound with grass either side.
Top left of the plate is a girl guide shamrock emblem with a [G.] in the left-hand and right-hand leaves and two stars down the centre.
Underneath the balga plant is text [DALE REGION].
Girl Guides in Australia started in 1910 and joined the World Association in 1928. As of roughly 2022 they have about 30,000 members.
Prior to 1996 there were four sections based on age: Gumnut Guides from 5-7; Old Brownie Guides from 7-10; Old Girl Guides from 10-14; and Old Ranger Guides from 14-18. Since 1996 all ages are now known as Guides.

This plate was presented by the 1st Girl Guides troop to Fay Clay as a thank you for her volunteer work. Fay had been a long term member of the Girl Guides at that point.
The plate appears to have been hand painted by a local artist.
