Edgar Alfred Tonkin, 1906 - 2001
Edgar Tonkin was born on 15 March 1906 at Jarrahdale, W.A. He was the youngest child of Charles Phillip Tonkin and Emma Elizabeth Tonkin (nee Turner). The family moved to Mundijong in 1901. The family moved to Mundijong in 1910. Edgar was a man of many interests. He owned a poultry farm in Mundijong, operated a farm implement repair service as well as an efficient carrier service. He had an inventive mind and created many novel pieces of equipment in his work shed. Ted Bett describes Edgar, in his book Well Stranded in Mundijong, as a giant among men.
