Overview

The black and white photograph shows the Chapel of the Sisters of Mercy built in the 1870s at New Subiaco. This building still stands in the grounds of the Catherine McAuley Centre. Olive trees planted by the Benedictine monks can be seen in the foreground. The stone building has Gothic stained glass windows. The front of the chapel is shown and a building behind the chapel. Olive trees are shown on either side of the photograph. This may have been the original Benedictine monastery which has since been demolished. Two Sisters of Mercy are seen leaving the building on the left hand side.
