TIN: CASTAN TOBACCO
c. 1930 - 1939Rectangular tin with hinged lid and rounded corners. Tin is a refillable vest pocket container for 1oz of tobacco made by W.D. and H.O. Wills (Australia) Ltd for Medium Strength Capstan Navy Cut tobacco. Label on lid of tin printed in navy blue on lighter blue (now faded) background. Words 'Navy Cut' printed in white on a navy background. Printed on inner side of lid: 'This Tin, of which only a limited number will be issued, will be found convenient to smokers as a vest pocket container and can easily be refilled with the contents of the ordinary 1-oz. Packets of "Capstain" Tobacco.' Centred on inside base of tin is a raised area with eight rows of indentations which bcome a roughtened surface on base of tin. Tin is rusted.
