POSTCARD: HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON
c. 1900Postcard (shiny surface) showing a rectangular view of High Holborn, London, one of the major thoroughfares looking back up the street. Shops line both sides of the street and disappear into the distance. There is a large clock suspended from one of the shops. The road is full of vehicles of every type, including horse drawn vehicles; and pedestrians crowd the footpaths. Written on the reverse: 'Dear Hope you are having better health than when I left and that you are feeling quite strong now. How is the violin getting on. I often think of you and Rae playing the piano and violin when I go out in London as my brother Alf is simply mad for good music and is always singing and telling me of the operas he has seen and he takes me out to a great many - always twice a week to different shows in London, the music is lovely. Yours lovingly, Belle.'
