PHOTOGRAPH: UNVEILING OF SUBIACO WAR MEMORIAL

1923
Overview

The sepia image features a man in the process of unveiling the commemorative plaque, covered by the Australian flag, on the Subiaco War Memorial. There is a troop of soldiers to the right of the photograph shouldering rifles. A group of people are watching proceedings, some holding open umbrellas, in the foreground. There is a group of empty wicker chairs immediately in front of the Memorial. The man unveiling the flag is standing on a small ladder behind the chairs and is supported by another man. There is a wooden barrier enclosing the Memorial. To the left is a cannon(?) covered with white drapes facing the memorial on a platform hung with the Union Jack. The houses in Hamersley Road are shown in clear detail. The Society holds the negative.
