When the research was completed for the 100 years of football in Katanning it was proved that a member of the Quartermaine family had been playing football in Katanning for 100 years. The oval was named in their honour. The sign was unveiled by Ben Quartermaine the youngest member of the family playing football at that time. Ben played for Wanderers Football Club. The person speaking at the microphone is Ainslie Evans.
