A coloured photograph of a building in which a woman is speaking into a microphone on the verandah of the building. Along the top board of the building is still covered by a blue sheet of plastic.

Historical information

When the research was completed for the 100 years of football in Katanning it was proved that a member of the Quartermaine family had been playing football in Katanning for 100 years. The oval was named in their honour. The sign was unveiled by Ben Quartermaine the youngest member of the family playing football at that time. Ben played for Wanderers Football Club. The person speaking at the microphone is Ainslie Evans.

Statement of significance

The oval at the Katanning Recreation centre was named Quartermaine Oval in April 2002, in recognition of the contribution of the Quatermaine family to 100 years of football.
