Historical information

St Quentins Avenue, Claremont is a street between Bay View Terrace and Stirling Road and parallel to Stirling Highway. Originally named Divers or Diver Street after Dr Edward Divers a scientist and uncle of PA Gugeri. The street name was changed 1925-01-19 in recognition of an Australian victory in France in 1918 during the Great War. St Quentin was a town near the River Somme in Northern France, part of the 1918 offensive called 'The Second Somme'.
