Butler's Swamp From Alfred Road
Looking south across Alfred Road, Claremont with the home of Walter Smith in the foreground overlooking Butler's Swamp. On the northern side of Alfred Road are zamias and scrub and on the south side reeds and mainly dead trees in the swamp. A line of dead trees in the water are to the west of where Stirling Road, Claremont came through from Shenton Road to Alfred Road. In the left background is the Claremont Oval pavilion, the railway goods shed with the Claremont Hotel behind it.
