MEDAL: BRITISH WAR MEDAL WITH RIBBON, 1914-1920
c. 1920British War medal with blue, black, white and gold ribbon attached. The obverse bears the coinage head of George V with a legend surrounding while the reverse shows St. George on horseback, the horse being in the process of trampling on the shield of the central powers. At the foot is a skull and cross bones and a rising sun at the top. Around the edges are the dates '1914 and 1918'.
Issued to Private F. Bell, Marine Gun Corps. Rim stamped "59515 PTE F. BELL M.G.C." (Machine Gun Corp)
Service Number corrected to ead 59515. British Serviceman not Australian Imperial Force. Awarded to all service personnel who participated in 1914-1918 War, post World War I. Operations in Russia 1919-20, and mine clearance in the North Sea up to the end of November 1919. In all 6,500,000 issued.
