To whom it may concern
The bearer Miss Vera Davey was employed at the Criterion Hotel for about 7 years. During that time she gave us every satisfaction being a good, sober, honest and experienced servant. I can thoroughly recommend her to any one requiring a first class Barmaid.
She left here of her own free will.
Yours faithfully
H. Stehen, Manager.
The letter is important because of Vera Davey's relationship with Charles Crowther Maley.
