Historical information

South Western Times, 14th January 1955:
News article states that these eight axemen were invited by WA Chopping League to compete in the State's forthcoming "Charlie Handmer 14inch Underhand" chopping championship to be held in Manjimup. Clothing worn at the Gloucester Park exhibition the previous year, would be worn again at the Manjimup competition.

On 29th March 1954, these men cut in an exhibition ("underhand chopping" event) at Gloucester Park, Western Australia in front of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh whom were on the last leg of their 8-week Royal Australian Tour.
