Inscriptions and markings

Handwritten on the bottom left of the first sketch is "Spencery".

Printed below the first sketch in black lettering is " 'Hounsome' Moojebing near Katanning. Built by Wesley Maley M.L.C. in 1904."

Handwritten on the bottom right of the second sketch is "Spencery".
Printed below the second sketch in black lettering is "Austral Terrace, Katanning in 1889. These sketches appear in Lloyd Nelson's Sequi-Centennial publication 'The Great Southern Expedition of 1835".

The engraving on the brass plaque reads "Presented by Mr Bruce Clarke on behalf of the Great Southern Herald 1985".
