Stereoscope Viewer
c. 1910 - 1920A Stereoscope finder mounted on a piece of wood and a wooden handle underneath for holding the item and a flat piece of wood at the front which holds a piece of wood which has vertical slots. This holds the slides and can be slide along the flat piece of wood. The stereoscope finder is a metal cylinder with material around the edges and it has two square glass lenses for looking through and is placed against the face so that the eyes can look through the lens.
The Stereoscope has a box of photographic cards, each card has the same picture repeated twice, one for each eye. In the box of cards there are 21 cream cards which have the "Underwood & Underwood Publisher" mark, 15 grey cards which have the "Underwood & Underwood Publisher" mark, 11 cream cards which have no details and 2 cream cards which have handwritten information on each card.
The cards which have the "Underwood & Underwood Publisher" mark are images from London, South Africa, and Italy and show the influence of the British around the world. Some of these pictures are of Queen Victoria's Diamon Jubilee in London 1897, coronation in London in The cream cards with no markings show images around Bournemouth and in particular Christchurch Priory. The two cards which have hand written comments are of Muckross Lake Ireland, and Glencar Scotland.

The top of the metal cylinder has some floral type markings, lines radiating out like a sun and below these lines a trademark which reads "SUN SCULPTURE U&U TRADEMARK"
Underneath the Stereoscope on the hinged part is stamped in the metal "MADE BY UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD NEW YORK PATENENTED JUN 11 1901 FOREIGN PATENTS APPLIED FOR"
The cards show the influence of the British across South Africa and India
