Contextual Information

This transcript of Sir Francis Burt's speech at the launch of the new Law Centre at the Old Court House Museum in 1987 is significant as it gives an indication of his motivations in supporting the initiative and why he was prepared to lend his name to it. The Centre was formally opened during Law Week and from then on the museum and education functions operated side by side.
A report on the opening of the Centre is included in the May 1987 and August 2013 editions of the Brief magazine published by the Law Society of WA and in a collection of photographs held in the Old Court House Law Museum collection.
