Historical information

It is currently believed these buckles were originally attached to a pair of shoes originally documented as part of the museum collection in 1976. The location of these shoes are currently unknown.
The shoes were described as being part of a Privy Council uniform and they came to the museum via the Western Australian Legislative Council and Brigadier John Bertram Roberts. Prior to 1986, the Privy Council in London was the final avenue of appeal for litigants who were unhappy with decisions made in Australian courts.
