Historical information

Busselton Repertory Club : Founded in 1949 following a suggestion by Arthur Grocock, the Busselton Repertory Club is a long-standing community theatre group in Busselton, Western Australia. The club consistently performs multiple plays per year, including a highly anticipated annual pantomime in January. Stewart Bovell, later to become Sir Stewart, became the club patron at its inception in 1949 and remained such until his death in 1999.

Contextual information

The Weld Theatre: The club is synonymous with the Weld Theatre, a heritage-listed building (originally a Mechanics' Institute, 1874–1881) that was renovated in 1963 for theatre use. Some of the early members included Frank and Girlie Eggleston, Muriel Blue, and Jean Hastwell.
