PHOTOGRAPH (DIGITAL): REECE THOMAS NICHOLSON AND GWENDOLINE JOYCE HARWOOD
c. 1945Copy of a photograph of a man and a woman embracing in what appears to be the backyard of a house. There is a horse in the background. The man is wearing wide long trousers and a short sleeved shirt. The woman has on a jacket and skirt and medium heeled shoes. The original photo has been extensively creased and torn.
Reece and Gwen met when Reece moved to Subiaco in 1945. Reece lived at 134 Hay Street and Gwen at 111. Gwen used to send her brother across to 134 to pass notes to Reece. They married on 13 October 1950 (Gwen was most likely pregnant). It is doubtful the hose was theirs. The stables in the background were part of 134 Hay Street; the residence where the Nicholsons lived.
