SOLDIERS OUTSIDE TOODYAY MEMORIAL HALL OR THE TOODYAY ODDFELLOW'S HALL
Photograph of a B & W photo.
17 Soldiers in all standing in a group outside a public building in Toodyay - either the Toodyay Memorial Hall (117 Stirling Tce) or the former Oddfellows' Hall (111 Stirling Tce)
There are 9 in the front row, 7 of whom are holding rifles on right sides & gun belts from left to right across their chests.
At the back of this row is a line of 4 with one soldier behind.
Further to the right are 2 soldiers and one behind. All 17 are wearing various military headgear. Could be Oddfellows' Hall (see History note]
A handwritten note by Jack (Hammer, Museum curator, 2004) accompanying the photo states: "Probably 'The Redcoats', Boer War veterans in a sort of Home Guard unit. C. 1905. [Photo taken] definitely on the east side of the Oddfellows Hall, where today's marketplace is and Maureen McKittrick's Swimming Pool was."
