Overview

The black and white copy of photograph features a view of Rokeby Road, south of Barker Road. Procession of children flanked by various adults (teachers) and led by school band of boys in school caps carrying brass instruments, a taller boy with brass drum. The children are carrying flags for Empire Day Celebration 29 May 1914 Two horse-drawn carts and figure on horseback travelling uphill in opposite direction of procession. Possibly Empire Day celebration.
Distinguishable shop signs - 'C.H. Sporer, Pastrycook-Confectioner'; 'R. Durack, Grocer - Swan Brewery Ale. Shell kerosene'; Commonwealth Boot Co. Photograph taken from upper level, indicated by drainpipe on left-hand side.
