Inscriptions and markings

Above the centre of the shield is an oval with the letters "SK" inside in gold. Inside the shield in gold lettering outlined in black ink is "SHIRE OF KATANNING WESTERN AUSTRALIA" and below this is a "P"in a red block followed by "resented to " in black italic lettering. Below this is "Walter Gardner Blackall" followed by "as a token of appreciation of services rendered to the District."

At the bottom of the scroll is the handwritten signature "A.R Kiddie" followed by "President" in black italic lettering. Below this line is the handwritten signature "W.S. Boughton." followed by "Shire Clerk" in black italic lettering
