The two-storey building with the ornate verandah to the left of the image houses a grocer advertising Amgoorie tea, and a horse and cart can be seen behind, parked at the corner of Hay Street and Townshend Road.
Opposite is a corner store with a painted signed advertising grape brandy.
The spire of the Subiaco Hotel can be seen in far background.
