PHOTOGRAPH: VIEW OF 'STRANRAER', ROBERTS ROAD, SUBIACO

Overview

From a collection of photographs that show views of 'Stranraer', a large house on Roberts Road that was a nursing home until 1989 and is now empty.
A view from Roberts Road showing more detail of the wrap-around verandah and the decorative work.
The house has a corrugated iron roof, two tall chimneys and a bull-nosed verandah with turned wooden posts wrapped around two sides of the house. Its gable has ornate woodwork and plaster decorations. The porch at the entrance to the side verandah has turned wooden posts and fretwork. A crenulated turret projects through the verandah over the front door. There are curved front steps with small brick posts on either side leading to the front path. There are several large shrubs and a tall, mature palm in the garden. The front fence features carved timber posts and cyclone fencing. 'Stranraer' was used as a private nursing home until 1989.
