IRON; CROWNALL
Black metal clothes iron - sides of body have five vents down each side.
Handle is missing but the mounting bracket is in situ as part of the top casting.
The iron is cast in three parts with the top screwed down to the base.
There is a pipe at the top rear of the iron with an internal thread to which would be attached a pipe carrying gas for heating the iron.
The iron is very heavy and would have been difficult to use for long periods. It was referred to as a sad iron because of its weight.
