Overview

a. First World War silk postcard with embossed border and silk insert forming an envelope. A Regimental badge has been embroidered in the top half of the insert and below this is a Latin Inscription ‘In Arduis Fidelis’ (Faithful in Adversity). Below the inscription are the embroidered initials ‘RAMC’ (Royal Army Medical Corps). The maker’s name and country of origin are printed in black ink on the reverse of the postcard.
b. A small card with printed on the left-hand side is a small bunch of three (3) red roses tied with a thin green ribbon. Adjacent is a message to the intended recipient and the name of the sender.

Embroidered silk postcard made in France during the First World War to send home from the military front to family or sweethearts as a means of keeping in touch.
