Historical information

"Whilst engaged in seeking information of early settlers in the Donnybrook District of W.A. for the Donnybrook Branch of the Royal Western Australian Historical Society (Inc.) I was struck by the fact that people knew very little about their forebears. Details of how their grandparents lived was too far in the past for them to have a clear picture. I felt somewhat critical until I began to think about my own grandparents and realised that I knew only one of them and so far as the other three were concerned, they could have lived in China for all I knew about them After I retired from active life I had little to do except tend my garden, so I decided to write down an account of seventy years of my life in the hope that such an account may prove of interest to my grandchildren and perhaps, their children." Adrian Hazel CONVOY, 1966.
