Single Handle Dual Purpose Can Opener

Overview

wooden handle, metal top

Historical information

These multi-purpose handheld manual can openers had two tools attached:

(a) a serrated wheel (a "feed wheel") that clamped the edge of the can and "walked" the blade around the rim as you turned the metal handle
(b) a spike or blade to "pierce" the can to create a ventilation hole that allows air to escape from the can; or to take off a bottle top
