EPNS Salt Cellar
Around the top of this small round Electro-Plated Nickel Silver bowl is a simple raised pattern. The bowl sits on a base that has engraved letters and number.
A salt cellar is a traditional tableware container used to hold and dispense salt, ranging from small, open dishes for individual diners to larger, often covered, pots for communal use. Common through the early 20th century, they allowed users to pinch or spoon salt before being largely replaced by salt shakers.
