Historical information

Sir Winston Churchill (1874–1965) was a British statesman, military officer, and author who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom twice, most famously leading Britain to victory during World War II (1940–1945). Known for his defiant leadership and inspiring oratory, he rallied the nation against Nazi Germany and served again from 1951 to 1955.

A member of Parliament for over 60 years, he served in both Liberal and Conservative governments in roles including First Lord of the Admiralty and Chancellor of the Exchequer.

He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953 for his historical writing, biographies, and speeches.
