Overview

This is a newspaper clipping pasted onto an A4 piece of paper. The article is from the Melville Fremantle local newspaper dated April 2 1996, and is titled ‘Mayor’s Notes’.

The article written by Melville City Mayor, Katie Mair, describes several streets in the suburb of Kardinya that are named after the Melville Glades founders. These include:

Cusack Way (John Cusack)
Harvey Crescent (Bruce Harvey)
Hancock Place (Hugh Hancock)
Day Street (Murray Day)

This information is confirmed by another item in the archive titled ‘Club Founders History’ (Item number 2021.122) which is a letter from the Melville History Society. In this item, in addition to the four names above it lists Bennett Court (Jack Bennett) as another named after one of MGGC’s founders.
