A small black and white photograph showing a group of soldiers standing casually in the desert near various supplies. There is a large hill in the background. The photograph has a small border and is in good condition, although there are marks on the right-hand side of the image possibly from its development. There is a small number 1 written on the reverse top corner.

Historical information

This image is possibly of a supply node for the light horse regiments. Depots Units of Supply were logistics supply units that handled the supplies, less ammunition, to support troops. Their task was to receive, account for, store and distribute combat and general supplies. There were 25 Depot Units of Supply eventually raised and deployed on the Western Front, numbered 1st to 25th and another two, the 26th and 27th were raised and served in Palestine supporting the Light Horse.
