Overview

1993 17th Asian Baseball Championship commemorative gift from the Japanese Team. It is representative of the head and torso of a Japanese woman. Her porcelain face is hand-painted, the costume consists of brightly-coloured silk materials and a hat is tied under her chin by thick red cord. Her hair is adorned with floral hair ornaments and her left hand is raised and holding the end of a length of material. The ensemble is mounted on a broad wooden paddle which has Japanese characters painted on it behind the geisha and its handle is bound with black material. On the reverse side of the paddle are hand-painted red chrysanthemums with green foliage.

Historical information

The 17th Asian Baseball Championship Series was held at Parry Field in Perth, Western Australia in 1993.
