Overview

A 28-page 1969 Australian Baseball Championship program for the Claxton Shield Series played in Melbourne, Victoria. Historical information

The 1969 Claxton Shield Series was the 30th annual Claxton Shield, an Australian baseball tournament, and was held in Melbourne, Victoria from September 5-14. The participants were South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. South Australia won the tournament; their 11th Shield win.
The Series was important because an Australian team was to be selected to contest a baseball series in Manila between Japan, the Philippines and Australia. This was the first time an Australian team was selected to travel overseas, and the winner and runner-up of the tournament progressed to the Asian Series. Australia finished 2nd.
