Easternholme Holiday for Members 1955

1955
Historical information

A holiday for elderly members at Easternholme Holiday Home in 1955, including Alice Williams.

Mrs Alice Williams was the Chairman of Easternholme in 1955 and in the Annual Report it was recorded that for the year there had been 93 adults and 151 children from all parts of the State. The tariff was 3 pound for a 3 bed room and 10/- per bed.

Easternholme was originally an Army Camp in the Fremantle area, which was purchased in 1946. It was administered by a combined committee from Dampier Wheatbelt, Eastern & South Eastern Divisions. The complex was deteriorating badly by 1987, the year of the America's Cup and it was sold for either $120,000 or $150,000. Both figures are mentioned in 'A Continuing Story'. Unsure of the time of the year this holiday was held for elderly members. The ladies are in summer dresses, but some do have cardigans. The month of October has been the guess.
