The 4th Asia-Pacific Scout Jamboree was a major international Scouting event held in Perth, Western Australia. It took place concurrently with the 12th Australian Jamboree from December 29, 1979, to January 7, 1980.This gathering holds a notable place in Scouting history because the 15th World Scout Jamboree originally scheduled to be held in Iran was canceled due to the Iranian Revolution. In response, the World Organization of the Scout Movement declared 1979 as "World Scout Jamboree Year," propelling this Asia-Pacific/Australian event into a massive international gathering that hosted roughly 12,000 participants from 34 countries. Held at the Perry Lakes Stadium reserve, it was the first international Asia-Pacific Jamboree to be hosted in Australia.
