Program - Driving of a Pile in new Busselton Jetty
1909One sheet of paper, 4 pages, double sided with black text and images.
The "Driving of a Pile" refers to a historic ceremonial event held on November 15, 1909, to officially commence the construction of the new "Skeleton" (Railway) Jetty at Busselton Jetty. The occasion featured a formal program at Barnard's Hall, after which the Mayor's young daughter, Marjorie, pulled a ribbon that released a weight (known as a "monkey") to drive the first pile into the seabed.
