Overview

A short sleeve shirt, black and red vertical lines on the front, black sleeves & black back with white V neckline and white sleeve cuffs. A black shield-shaped patch, with a red piping edge, is sewn into top right of the shirts front side (left side if worn). The patch is a red and white round ball with a black image of Australia in the middle with white text above the ball and red text on a white banner under the ball.

Historical information

This shirt was produced in 2022 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the forming of the Armadale Soccer Club. It was sold to members and the public as a way to raise money for the club.
The Armadale Soccer Club was formed in 1972 by Derrick Buchan and Tony Delaney who was running two junior clubs in the suburb of Westfield Park, an area developed to provide housing for British migrants. The club was originally called Westfield Park Soccer Club with Tony Delaney as President, Treasurer was Henry Beal with Dick Chapman and Derrick McLoughlan on the committee.
The club's first home ground was in Byford which caused some issues with junior players struggling to travel to the ground. The Club approached the Shire of Armadale-Kelmscott who allowed them to use the closer Gwynne Park in Armadale.
It was at this ground that the Club's First Team won the league cup under coach Tibor Besci, a former Hungarian international player, in his first season at the helm.
In 1997, Armadale City and Armadale Park Soccer Club amalgamated to form Armadale Soccer Club, then moved to Alfred Skeet Reserve (the junior teams continued to play at Morgan Park.)

The Armadale Soccer Club 50th anniversary shirt, produced in 2022, is of local historical and social significance to the City of Armadale. The shirt commemorates fifty years of the club, which was founded in 1972 as the Westfield Park Soccer Club during a period of suburban growth associated with British migrant settlement. Through its development at grounds including Gwynne Park, Morgan Park and Alfred Skeet Reserve, the club became an enduring part of Armadale’s sporting and community life, supporting junior and senior participation and fostering social connection.
