NEW GLADES LAYOUT SUITS TO A TEE - NEWSPAPER ARTICLE
1983This newspaper article describes how MGGC developed a concept of having a long and short course layout. The article shows club members Chris Carey and Captain Max Hannah.
The "course within a course" concept was endorsed by the MGGC Council of Management in 1981, the year Max became the club’s Captain. It came about because MGGC had one of the longest layouts of all private golf clubs in WA at that time. The concept was researched and developed for two years until it was implemented in 1983. Club members could enjoy the short course for most competitions with the long course available for championship events. The change was never fully accepted and was abandoned a year or two afterwards.
The document is contained in the album Item 2022.343.
