PHOTOGRAPH: MAN AND WOMAN, 117 LAWLER STREET
1900 - 1920Sepia photograph of a man and woman in what appears to be the front garden at 117 Lawler Street. A turned verandah post and small portion of stained glass window are visible in the left margin. A climbing plant is seen growing on the lattice screen and above. The man is seen on the left of the image, wearing dark trousers and a waistcoat with a white shirt, and a hat. He is standing, and leaning, with one foot on a kitchen chair and a pipe in his mouth. The woman is seen to the right of the image, seated, and wearing a white blouse and long dark coloured skirt. A brooch is seen at the front of her blouse, and she is wearing glasses.
The photograph is a 2001 copy of a framed foil etching under glass, found under the house at 121 Lawler Street in 2001 by Mr. Palmer. Its origin is not known but the house is identifiable as 117 Lawler Street (next door to the Palmer's house).
