Below the photograph in black typed lettering is "Portrait of J.C. Warren. Esq.J.P. A pioneer settler of Katanning East Districts, who arrived there in March 1898. This photograph was presented to him as a token of esteem, by his Rockwell and Badgebup friends in September, 1942."
