COMMISSION, SEPTIMUS BURT, MEMBER OF EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

1886
Overview

Commission authorised by Governor Frederick Napier Broome and signed by the Acting Colonial Secretary appointing Septimus Burt, in his role as Acting Attorney General, to be an official member of the Executive Council of Western Australia. Dated 30 March 1886.
This Commission was sent with a cover letter and Warrant for the appointment of Burt as Acting Attorney General. These three documents are all dated 30 March 1886. The Commission and the Warrant are both signed by Governor Broome with the Public Seal of the Colony of Western Australia affixed. At the centre top of the front page of the Commission is the letter “A” in red ink. At the centre top of the front page of the Warrant is the letter "B” in red ink.
The rest of the Commission is handwritten in black ink on one sheet of cream paper folded in half (like a book). The text of the Commission is written on the front page and on the inside page to the left of the fold. The seal is positioned near the top left of the front page. A stain from the seal is on the lower left, apparently occurring when the document was at some time in the past folded in half again for storage. Governor Frederick Napier Broome’s signature is at top left.
