COFFEE CONVERSATIONS (THEME, VIBRANT LIFESTYLE)

Artist statement: The artist was inspired by the recognizable form of a coffee bean to represent the core activities of the Café precinct. This public artwork called ‘Coffee Conversations’ provides a resting place or meeting place for the community.
Ian Dowling commented: ‘I used the recognisable form of the coffee bean itself, making connections with the emerging properties of the product and the important socialising role it plays in modern urban living. There is a range of particular colours connected to the changes in the development of the berries, through ripening to roasting of the beans.’
