The artwork reflects the history of the original site of the Broadway theatre. The functional artwork provides seating that includes a film reel which symbolize the old movie shows for which the Broadway Theatre was known for from 1927 - 1964.
Artist statement: A Public seat located outside the old Broadway Movie Theatre at the intersection of Albany Highway and Harper street, Victoria Park.
The Broadway Theatre was built in 1927 and operated as a movie theatre until 1964.
Since closing it has become a Business Enterprise Centre.
This seat is a special and unique meeting place which also reminds us of the golden era of movie theatres.
