World War 2, Western Australia, Fortress Fremantle. Unites States Navy, USS Peary, salvaged 4 inch gun
1943Two of these guns were emplaced at Geraldton and 2 at J (beacon) Battery, Garden Island. It is believed that a number of these guns were salvaged form the USS Peary sunk in Darwin Harbour duringt he Japanese bombing raid on 19 Feb 1942.
