The brass First World War Rising Sun collar badge has been made into a brooch, with a hinge and clasp welded on to the back of the badge. The Rising Sun being the traditional symbol of the Australian Army. Brooches made from military badges, known as ‘Sweetheart Brooches’, were often worn by the wife, girlfriend or female relative of a serving member.
