Donnelly River once a vibrant Bunning timber mill town operating from the 1950's to late 1970's. The Bunning Brothers built a townsite to house the mill workers and their family. A vibrant community that ran and involved themselves in many village activities during this era.

Doreen Pond known as Jo to all started the gIrl Guides as an after school activity in the 1960's.
