Second World War Cockpit MK2 Lamp 5C/366 – Second Pattern

c. 1939 - 1945
Overview

A cylindrical brass sleeve with an inner steel bayonet sleeve.

Historical information

The Mk2 5c/366 second pattern cockpit lamp was used extensively in the Second World War to illuminate interiors of aircraft and vehicles. Originally manufactured in solid brass but as the war in Europe progressed and essential materials became scarcer, production switched to the cheaper, mass-produced bakelite resins.
The unit is missing its fitting and glass and was found near the ammunition area at the Princess Royal Fort Albany and was probably used in the Ford 3 tonne truck in use at the site during the Second World War.
